Anchored Northwest began in Spokane, Washington, in 2019 after Megan and Brian experimented with about $50 worth of candle-making supplies at their dining room table. What started as a side project quickly grew, and within the year both had left their previous careers to pursue candle making full time.
From the beginning, their goal was to create candles that balanced attractive design, affordability, and more environmentally conscious materials. Today, Anchored Northwest continues to hand-pour its candles in Spokane using 100% soy wax, untreated cedar wood wicks sourced from sustainable U.S. forests, and phthalate-free fragrance and essential-oil blends. The candles contain no dyes or stearic acid.
What began as a husband-and-wife operation has since expanded far beyond the Pacific Northwest. The company says its products have been carried in thousands of locations across all 50 states and internationally, while also appearing through retailers and features such as Bloomingdale’s and Darling Magazine.
Giving back has become part of the story as well, with Anchored Northwest reporting more than $84,000 donated to nonprofit organizations over a two-year period. Through its continued growth, the brand remains rooted in the same handmade approach and welcoming sense of community that began around that kitchen table.
