Handful was founded in Portland, Oregon, in 2006 by Jennifer Ferguson, a fitness instructor and busy mom who couldn’t find a sports bra that worked the way she needed it to. Her solution became the Original Handful Bra and the beginning of a woman-owned brand built around helping women feel comfortable, supported, and confident.
Jennifer was joined by Tina Thede, Jody Filkins, and Cary Kim, and together they shaped Handful around five guiding values known as the “Handful High Five”: Fashion, Function, Feel, Fun, and FIGHT. That final value reflects the brand’s ongoing support for breast cancer survivors and its broader mission to meet women wherever they are in their journey.
A defining feature of Handful bras is their hidden pocket system, designed to hold removable and stackable Lights-Out Pads. These washable pads can be used to add shape, create balance, or replace volume lost through surgery, making the bras adaptable to a wide range of needs.
Today, Handful continues to focus on thoughtful design, quality construction, versatility, and comfort—creating bras meant to move with women through workouts, daily life, recovery, and everything in between.
